STEEL AND ALUMINUM  WELDING

Steel and Aluminium Welding

Our team of welders is equally conversant with all types of welding, producing high grade finishes in every case to meet with ISO and IACT class specifications.
Hull and decks are cropped and replaced as necessary while the superstructures and the pilot wheelhouses of aluminum are crafted to a high degree of accuracy, whilst avoiding the often challenging threat of distortion in the softer alloy.

Hydro-blasting Service

At present World’s awareness on environmental protection, Asimar is determined to work towards the certification of ISO 14001.

With our deep concerns on clean environment and high quality of works, we have recently introduced the hydro-blasting method for steel surface preparation.

The Ultra High Pressure Water-jetting Machine of 55,000 psi (3,800 bars) can provide fast results with a very high quality for ship’s hulls.

Advantages for using the Hydro blast:

  • Ability to cut through multiple layers of paints much faster than abrasives

  • Produces almost twice the output pressure but uses only half of the water of normal UHP machines

  • Acceptable and approved by all major paint-makers

  • Working conditions are much cleaner and environmentally sympathetic

  • No abrasives waste remains

CLEARANCE MEASUREMENT: SHAFTLINE AND RUDDER BEARINGS

Classification Societies require the verification of sterntube and bracket bearing clearances as well as rudder stock and pintles (as far as possible) each time that a Docking Survey is carried out. These surveys are to be performed drydocked every 2.5 years. ASIMAR, however, strongly recommends carrying out such verifications every time the yacht is taken out of the water, for a very simple reason: the cost of these verifications, within the total cost of the hauling out operation, is very small and the advantages that can be obtained are very important. The verification of these clearances in consecutive docking allows to observe the wear of the bearings and foresee in advance the need of replacement. Also, the detection of an abnormal wear of a particular bearing, can in turn inform us of a possible problem on it (ie: misalignment, damages at the concerned bearing or at the affected shaft, etc.).

ASIMAR has been regularly carrying out these verifications for many years and have a wide experience on its execution, using in every case the most suitable procedure according to the type of bearing. Its results are accepted by all Classification Societies.

After each verification, ASIMAR will hand over to the customer the pertinent report for his acknowledgement and record.

Regular inspections and repair work are performed by qualified engineers with a thorough knowledge of the product in order to help ensure safe and problem-free operation of customers’ vessels.
Each repair shop is equipped with a dynamic balance, enabling repair of even high-revolution propellers, such as on high-speed boats.
Expert engineers are dispatched for repair and maintenance of controllable pitch propellers, thrusters and other products. We respond promptly to emergencies.
